An air bubble of volume 2 cm\(^3\) is formed 20 m under water. What will be its volume when it rises to just below the surface of the water if the atmospheric pressure is equivalent to a height of 10 m of water?
A
3 cm\(^3\)
B
4 cm\(^3\)
C
6 cm\(^3\)
D
2 cm\(^3\)
Verified Correct Answer: C.
Physical Principles & Numerical Solution
P\(_1\) = 20 m + 10 m = 30 m = 3000 cm
V\(_1\) = 2 cm\(^3\)
P\(^2\) = 10 m = 1000 cm
V\(_2\) = ?
P\(_1\)V\(_1\) = P\(_2\)V\(_2\)
3000 \times 2 = 1000 \times V\(_2\)
V\(_2\) = \(\frac{3000 \times 2}{1000}\)
∴ V\(_2\) = 6 cm\(^3\)
